#47 Summary

Is Limited Entry Needed in Catch and Release Trout Fisheries? by J.S. Griffith
Ultimate test of whether catch-and-release anglers are impacting fish populations and their environment would be two compare populations of fish in pristine un-fished streams with those in identical streams that are open to catch-and-release fishing. Evidence exists that intensive catch-and-release has a biological impact due to energy expended by fish when hooked. Most interest in limiting entry comes from anglers who are concerned that the quality of their experience is being reduced by the high density of fishermen present.
